5:30 AM – Rise and Shine

The day starts early when you’re with Four Winds Custom Heating and Air Conditioning. After a quick breakfast and checking the forecast, I load up my service van with the essential parts I might need for the day’s calls.

7:00 AM – First Emergency Call

A family in Mishawaka wakes up to a cold house. Their furnace stopped working overnight, and with temperatures dropping below freezing, this becomes our priority call. After a thorough inspection, I find a failed igniter – a common issue during peak heating season.

9:30 AM – Scheduled Maintenance

Head over to Osceola for routine furnace maintenance. These preventative checks are crucial for:

  • Ensuring efficient operation
  • Preventing unexpected breakdowns
  • Extending equipment life
  • Maintaining manufacturer warranties

12:00 PM – Quick Lunch Break

A brief stop between calls to warm up and fuel up. Being centrally located between our service areas helps minimize travel time.

1:30 PM – Heater Installation

The afternoon involves a new heating system installation in Granger. Working with the homeowner to ensure they understand their new system’s operation is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

4:00 PM – Final Service Call

Wrap up the day with a heating repair in Elkhart. A malfunctioning thermostat is causing irregular cycling. After replacing the unit and testing the system, another satisfied customer has a warm home for the evening.

5:30 PM – Day’s End

Back at the shop, I restock my van and complete paperwork for tomorrow’s scheduled maintenance visits. Another fulfilling day keeping our community comfortable during the harsh Indiana winter.
